Inmarsat announces EOL closure for Fleet 33, 55, 77 and MPDS

Inmarsat has announced retirement dates for the Fleet 33, 55 and 77 services, as the Inmarsat-3 satellite constellation moves closer to reaching the end of its lifespan.

The EOL (End of Life) dates for the Fleet family of services are as follows:

31st December 2017

Fleet 33 & 55

31st December 2018*

Fleet 77

1st December 2020

*Fleet 33 & 55 EOL date subject to further validation and may be scheduled earlier in 2018.

This EOL announcement follows the recent closure of other legacy Inmarsat services Inmarsat B and Mini M. Inmarsat is keen to clarify however, that they remain committed to supporting the  Inmarsat C maritime safety service, which will be migrated onto the Inmarsat-4 satellite constellation.
