Inmarsat Updates IsatPhone 2 Emergency Service Offering with GEOS

With IsatPhone 2 nearly a year old, we wanted to take some time to remind our valued customers about all the features of the Inmarsat service including introducing some new benefits, namely the GEOS emergency service.

IsatPhone Pro has been a huge success with a wide variety of Satcom Global customers, and proved extremely popular across all our different markets. However, as the demands of these markets have evolved, Inmarsat have designed IsatPhone 2 in answer to those needs.

We understand that our valued customers are looking for more than just a satellite phone for voice calls; they're looking for a service that makes their lives easier with additional features:

  • Always contactable: Users can receive notification of inbound calls, even with the antenna stowed.
  • Location and tracking services: Safety and security on the move with GPS tracking and location services and an assistance button.
  • Robust handset: Engineered to withstand the most extreme situations your customers encounter, IsatPhone 2 operates at -20° to +55°, has humidity tolerance up to 95 per cent, and is dust, splash and shock resistant (IP65, IK04).
  • Connect when you need it: Network registration in under 45 seconds, IsatPhone 2 enables your customers to connect quickly and easily.
  • Unrivalled battery life: 8 hours of talk time and up to 160 hours standby.
  • IsatPhone 2 operates over Inmarsat’s global I-4 satellite network, therefore our customers are never out of touch, no matter where they go.

Safety and security: GEOS emergency service

Increasingly, safety and security are paramount concerns amongst purchasers of satellite phones, who often work in isolated or volatile areas, so all post-paid IsatPhone 2 customers will now be able to access worldwide emergency response services from GEOS, free-of-charge.

The service takes advantage of IsatPhone 2's one-press assistance button, located at the top of the handset. GEOS' service allows customers to contact the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC), simply by pressing the assistance button, which triggers a message containing the user's GPS co-ordinates.

Once the emergency notification request is received, the response centre; staffed 24-7 and located in Houston, USA, will contact the user directly and establish the nature of the emergency. GEOS staff will then notify the appropriate authorities, based on region and nature of the emergency, to begin search and rescue procedures.

All post-paid IsatPhone 2 customers can access GEOS' service free of charge. An in-box insert, with details of the service and how to set up will be included with all new IsatPhone 2 devices, but existing post-paid IsatPhone 2 customers can avail themselves of this service by registering at the GEOS website: www.geosalliance.com/inmarsat

Pre-paid customers can also access the service; however GEOS will charge an annual fee for the privilege.
