Captive
Portal
Controlled, bandwidth-efficient access to the internet
The Horizon Captive Portal routes users to a mandatory log-in screen before internet access is permitted. This allows users to be billed if required and to restrict their access to particular websites through the creation of a white list.
In conjunction with the Horizon Desktop App, the Captive Portal can be used to create a secure, low-cost solution for optimised VoIP, email, internet and instant messaging.
Easy to install, use and manage
- Compact device designed specifically for space-restricted environments.
- Only requires a wired internet connection and mains power supply.
- A private port allows administrator access where no further authentication is required; while a public port prompts users to log-in by entering their Horizon number and PIN code.
- Three RJ-45 Ethernet ports allow connectivity to incoming WAN and outgoing client devices – laptops, wireless infrastructure devices, Horizon VoIP PBX.
- Data counter keeps track of bytes used throughout the session for both pre-paid and post-paid users.
- Supports traffic profiling to enable bandwidth allocation to a specific service, e.g. for VoIP traffic to ensure there is no performance degradation on a highly-contested link.
Completely secure
- Secure authentication to prevent unauthorised use.
- Firewall permits local administrators to allow or deny the use of IP ports and addresses at the local network level.
- Incoming and outgoing requests from unauthorised services are blocked before they hit the network, thereby reducing traffic.
