Iridium has issued recommended firmware upgrades for the Iridium 9555 and Iridium Extreme 9575 satellite phones, and the Iridium Extreme PTT (Push-To-Talk) handset, and Iridium GO! device.
The new firmware is now available for the 9555, Extreme 9575 and Extreme PTT satellite phone handsets from Iridium Communications, and upgrades include bug fixes and introduce new features. The firmware upgrade for the Iridium Extreme PTT means that support for 20 new languages has been added to the PTT side of the phone to bring parity with the telephony functions, and corrections have been made to the signal strength indicator to better reflect current network conditions.
The new firmware release for the Iridium GO!, version 1.5.2, is also now available featuring the following user experience enhancements:
- Improved internet connection speeds.
- Addition of time to periodic tracking messages.
- Various other minor improvements.
Whilst the updates are not mandatory, Iridium recommends that all handsets be upgraded whenever possible to provide the best service available.

You can check the firmware version installed on Iridium GO! devices by pressing the left or right navigational buttons to bring up the menu: Menu > Information
